Mark Spanjer is an archaeological consultant and educator based in Amsterdam who brings expertise and knowledge of historic environment and cultural heritage practice in the Netherlands and beyond. He is the company’s lead on growth and development in the European market.

A recognised expert in archaeological quality management, Mark lectures at Saxion, an applied sciences university in the Netherlands and formerly worked for ARCADIS Netherlands BV as an international historic environment consultant and Project Leader, and for the Municipality of Dordrecht as the Council Archaeologist.

In his work at Dordrecht and at ARCADIS he has been responsible for the implementation of the Dutch Archaeological Quality norm (Kwaliteitsnorm Nederlandse Archeologie, KNA). Within this system he has been recognized and is working as a ‘Senior Archeoloog’. He has served as a member and chairman of the Board of the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Archeologen (NVvA, the professional association for archaeologists in the Netherlands)
